Mitt Romney shifts tone to try to win over women

WASHINGTON — As Mitt Romney tries to translate his well-reviewed debate performance into votes, one sentence he uttered during the Denver matchup provides the key to his strategy: “A woman grabbed my arm and she said, ‘I’ve been out of work since May. Can you help me?’ ”

Romney likely cannot win the general election unless he can convince more women that he understands their concerns and can, indeed, help them. Prior to the debate, the size of the gender gap was one of Romney’s biggest hurdles to becoming president. President Obama led Romney among women by 18 points while trailing among men by 10 points, according to a Quinnipiac University national survey. Moreover, women typically vote in larger numbers than men, amplifying their political power.

A Romney presidency would be toxic to women.

Romney is portray as this evil person toward women. As governor he did to women, wait a minute, something will come to me. I know, he had sex in the Oval Office while his wife was waiting outside in the rose garden, nope wrong guy. He fathered a child while his wife was dying of cancer, wrong guy again. Hold on, I'll find something he actually did towards women, rather than what Obama's media is making him us to believe. How about being in Palm beach, while his nephew in the next room got accused of rape? Wrong guy again. Darn.

Wish I had written that!

Romney has promised to get rid of Planned Parenthood!  How can you possibly think that "cutting off health care for three million women a year" is OK?  Romney has promised to end Obamacare.  How can you possibly think that allowing insurance companies to make women pay more than men is OK?  Romney doesn't care about equal pay for equal work. If a business can get away with paying women less than men, that's OK with him.  How can you possibly equate Romney's massive policy harm to women with three personal incidents?  Oh...yeah, I see it now.  Same verb. They are all "attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis" (Big Bang Theory reference).

Will the real Mitt please stand up?

As usual, Romney is flip-flopping about what he initially said, and what he meant. He cannot be trusted to tell the truth. He's against women making their own decision about abortion. My body, my decision. Who is he to make my decision? The 47% need to heed what he truly said about us when behind closed doors. He's a fake. Obama 2012!!

I know, Republicans flip-flop and Democrats 'evolve'.

Ha, yeah.  Mitt Romney 'flip-flops', and Obama 'evolves' (right before the election) on same sex marriage.

When this column says women it acts as if this is a homogenous group.  I know it isn't.  I live with 3 of them.  They actually think differently and different issues are important to them.  So who exactly is Mr. Romney reaching out to.  Is it women with little resources and struggle to maintain their economic status and health.  Of course not.  Is it women who want laws that protect their rights in the workplace as opposed to their bosses?  Of course not.  Is it women who have the economic resources to get a good education and influence to get a coveted position in business?  Of course he does.  Is he in favor of supporting a patriarchal view of family bucking the trend towards more shared responsiblilites and professional aspirations?  Of course he is.  So add it up and like he speaks to 3% of the overall population he has a likewise percentage among women in particular.  However each woman is expected to determine what type of governing advances their life status.  Words are cheap but who Mr. Romney gets supports from and what legislation he will work for says a lot more about who would benefit from his presidency.  Forget the political claptrap.  His revelations behind the doors of the fundraiser dismissing 47% of the electorate should give anyone pause who he stands with.

Democrats roll out the same stupid lies every four years and every four years there is a new batch of young women who fall for them!  Women ought to be embarrassed they are manipulated by Democrats so easily!  Your blind support of Democrats trashes the credibility of women everywhere which goes on to hold women back in general.   Ladies, the markets need to see a reduction in spending, NOT an increase in tax revenues!  This country is going absolutely nowhere until the markets see reduced spending, not increased tax revenues.  Time for women with a clue to stand-up.  You can't spend $3.5 trillion when your country only makes $2.5 trillion.  Surely at least a few of the ladies understand this simple fact, no?  Surely the ladies saw Obama in the debate, and saw a 'PRESIDENT' next to him in Romney...

Romney's economic policies would be nothing but George Bush III.  They are the same policies that got us into this mess--they cannot get us out of it!  Women are smart enough to know that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is insanity.

If Romney or Obama were truly concerned about women, and their male conterpart, they would both step aside and hand the reins to HIllary.

Mitt Romney and his wife Ann are the biggest phoneys and liars on the face of this earth. They only care about doing whatever they have to do or say to become the president and first lady. I have met Ann Romney and she is the most incredible phoney you can imagine. Ann cares less about anyone unless she can use you to advance her and Mitt's agenda. She said it all in a nationwide interview --- she said "it is our turn" like she and Mitt are entitled to the White House. He is an incredible consultant ---- say anything to the target audience to get the deal. If you are all so stupid to believe his lies then you deserve to have him as your President. Mitt is a consultant's consultant ---- say whatever you have to in order to close the deal. Look at his record - in Mass so opposite of where he is now. WAKE UP AMERICA ---- don't elect this "etch a sketch" candidate -- unless you want to put us back into the dark ages and let us be dictated to by people like Bibi Netanyhu.
