WASHINGTON — The White House’s shifting explanations about the deadly assault on the US consulate in Libya have provided a robust line of attack by Republicans, one presidential nominee Mitt Romney is expected to take up in his next debate Tuesday against President Obama.
As Romney, running mate Paul Ryan, and Vice President Joe Biden fanned out across several toss-up states Friday, the sparring continued over the lapses in security last month at the diplomatic compound in Benghazi, as well as over broader foreign policy disagreements on the Middle East.

This election is even more important now more than ever. Unless you want to see crazy uncle Joe Biden as President. This is a cover up by Obama and Clinton. It will bring them both down. They knew withing 24 hours that it was terrorism but lied and try to cover it up as it would cost him his second term. This is much worse than Watergate. No one died in Watergate. He's trying to drag this out as long as he can to the finish line but the truth will come out and he'll soon be waving a double piece sign and leaving form the WH on a helicopter of shame. Shame on him and others that gave him this advice to deny and lie to the American people! He had so many chances to be a good President but instead took bad advice.
As Paul Ryan said, we have a battalion (300) soldiers protecting the US Embassy in Paris but only 1 (a the time of the attack) protecting the US Embassy in Libya? Regardless of the baseless claims by Biden that the House cut $300M out of Embassy personnel last yaer (even though the Senate adjusted that number and approved it), why would you have more protection in Paris vs Libya? Even my 14 year old knows they should take some from Paris and send them to Libya!
fendog, I also suspect your 14 year old could tell the difference between an embassy (which is what you are referring to in Paris) and a consulate (which is what you are referring to in Libya). The first is usually a primary outpost which is the base of an ambassador, carries out high level diplomacy, and supports a large staff. The second usually deals with lower level mechanics like replacing passports, etc. and has a much smaller staff. Do you also think it's possible that the number of security personnel required at any moment has something to do the sensitivity of the information, the number of Americans present, and the size of the facility, too? I certainly hope your indignant anger has nothing to do with partisan malice at a time when we should all be doing our best to support American foreign policy together.
So the Commander in Chief claims he wasn't told the details about events in one of the hottest zones we have an embassy in following an attack on the anniversary of Sept 11th? Mr. Biden, I'll rephrase the same question you asked me last night. Whom do I trust?
So we now know that Vice President Biden and President Obama did not know that the request for more diplomatic security was requested and turned down by the Dpt of State. Do we know if Sec. Clinton knew of Ambassador Stevens personal request for more security assets? Did that plea reach her desk? Where is Sgt Schultz when we need him? Remember? He always knew "nothing". Perhaps he coached UN Ambassador Susan Rice on the non-existent Benghazi rally to protest the so-called "repulsive anti-Islamic video" prior to her round of Sunday morning news shows three weeks ago. It appears in hindsight she knew nothing, too-or at least nothing that came close to the truth about a terror attack organized by Al Qaeda.

The coverup continues. Sgt. Shultz is alive an well. Maybe if Obama attended his national security briefings just once in the past six months he would have known about the danger over there. Unfortunately, he was too busy prepping for his visit on the View. What a complete bunch of buffoons in White House. I wonder how Hillary Clinton likes getting thrown under the bus just like Sec. Paul Ryan, I wondered where his dignity went. Perhaps its silly to expect any politician to have dignity, but Biden has given new meaning to the word embarrassing.
President Obama slept through is first debate, but he did so with some sincerity and yes...dignity.
Biden coincidentally proved that he is either totally un-informed on the Libyan attack on our embassy, or perhaps feels that his arrogance gives him the right to lie openly to the american public.. I presume he is inconvinced that we are all much too stupid to be trusted with the truth.
Last night's debate sickened me.

What is so funny about Iran having a nuclear weapon Biden??!? Why did Biden look like a freaky used-car salesman the first half and why did he scream and beat-up Martha Raddatz the second half, she's not running for VP! When Biden wasn't interrupting Ryan, Raddatz was! And why did Raddatz ask probing questions of Ryan but not of Biden? Did Raddatz become afraid of Biden after he bit her head off for a half hour??!? Women are cool with this??!?? They did the count: Biden interrrupted Ryan at least twice per minute!! Sorry, that is beyond rude and beyond tactical, that is just weak. And enough people saw it.
Total incompetence on display by Obama and Hillary. Bozos are in charge and an ambasssador and other Americans were needlessly slaughtered. We need four more years of this bliss.
You NEVER put Democrats in-charge of national security and foreign policy. You just don't do it. And we should all understand why by now if we didn't before...
The final sentence of this story is very significant. The Obama campaign makes unsupported claims about GOP anti-deficit program cuts for Pell grants, embassy security, etc. These claims assume that all federal programs will have the same percentage cuts. That's silly. The cuts should be for farm subsidies, high speed rail to nowhere in California, etc.

It is time the Republicans corrected the 'malarky' of the Democrat Party!
The abrupt down-turn in the economy came at the end of Clinton's second term, and was not created by President Bush. Too many voters have forgotten it was the role of Clinton's policies that influenced the historical meltdown of 2008.
