CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Both President Obama and Mitt Romney claimed victory a day after their spirited second debate, each vowing on the trail in battleground states to be a champion of issues important to women.
In Mount Vernon, Iowa, on Wednesday, Obama sought to undercut Romney’s claim to be an advocate for women by highlighting social issues. Obama noted the Republican nominee’s pledge to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood; his opposition to abortion, with few exceptions; and his support of the Blunt Amendment, which would allow employers to deny contraception coverage for workers on moral or religious grounds.

I fail to see why women should be treated as a distinct voting bloc. There are women from all ethnicities, income levels, party leanings and with individual priorities who may or may not vote. There are men from all ethnicities, income levels, party leanings and with individual priorities who may or may not vote. Please note the previous two sentences are the same except one describes women and one describes men. All of the above considerations are just as important, if not dramatically more so, than the ability to bear children rather than beget them. I'm sure it's my generation; women were not required or expected make babies unless that was something she chose to do. Yes, contraception made that easily possible, but even my Irish-Catholic grandmother, a nurse, knew how to limit her offspring to two in the late 1920s. Fifty years later I attended a recruitment tea for Smith College, a prestigious women's school in North Hampton. An imposing looking dowager, yes they still existed then, ensconced in a wing chair, caught my eye. I went over to talk to her, after all this was what you were supposed to do. I asked her what going to Smith had done for her. She replied, “My dear, I married an Amherst man and bore his children.” Smith was not one of the colleges I applied to. Let's move beyond gender politics.
Since the Republicans want to legislate on women's freedoms, since insurance companies want to charge women more for being female, since women are routinely paid less than men, YES, women are a voting block. When policies have an impact on a group of people, you have a voting block. That is not to say women all hold the same opinions, but they do face the same impact of policies on their lives.
I have to agree with Michael Graham on the equal pay baloney. If women truly make 20% less than men, then every company in this country would only hire women and would save 20% on payroll and related costs! If women truly make only 80% of men, then women would have 100% employment and men would have nearly 100% unemployment. Thus, it is easy to conclude that any woman who is actually falling for this same old lie that Democrats roll-out every four years is too easily manipulated in general and should seek a refund from the liberal arts college they wasted their money on. It isn't your gender...
This article is a complete red herring. Women, just like men, need JOBS. If women don't have a JOB, then they won't get equal pay. They will have NO PAY at all. Also, by the way, Syria violence is getting out of control, with heavy weapons, include antiaircraft weapons. What is our Commander in Chief doing? NOTHING!!
There will be NO JOBS to speak of until SPENDING is cut! The markets that affect job creation aren't waiting to see Democrats 'increased revenues'. The markets that affect job creation are waiting to see 'spending reductions'!!!!! Until spending is reduced, you will never see any number of jobs worth speaking about. And you have been warned...
Obama is on the campaign trail: He is booked for the Daly Show tonight - or - is that tomorrow night. Tonight could be Las Vegas - WHO IS PAYING AIR FORCE ONE GAS BILL?
By the way, Wheat prices are soaring up right now. All of you are about to pay higher food prices, under President Barack Obama.

Sorry, jedi. Today wheat futures price/bushel when up from 8.5 Cents to 8.75 cents, a large increase. You can see it on a price chart. I saw this price jump occur at 10:30 AM today. And since Obama and Democrats wanted Ben Bernanke of the Federal Reserve Bank to lower the value of the US Dollar vs. other currencies, ALL food prices will rise, along with oil prices, which also raises gasoline pricers.--So Yes, Obama DOES control wheat prices.
‘Help me find a good job, ... “That’s what the women of America are concerned about". As a woman I find this insulting. Finding a good job is not something only women are concerned about, as if women as a group need the help more than men and expect the government to cut them a break. Finding a good job is something an individual can control, men or women. The job market is more or less ability based, certain gender based policies are however out of our control. Policies such as banning abortion or getting rid of planned parenthood, and giving companies the option to decide whether or not to cover contraceptives, those are policies specifically targeting women, limiting women's freedom and choices. America has come a long way to be called country of the free. Many of us feel fortunate to be in this country when we see what others are going through in countries where women have less freedom than men. Which direction do we really want our country to go?
That would be 'No Bounce' Obama.
In Ron Suskind's Confidence Men, Dunn is quoted as saying, “looking back, this place would be in court for a hostile workplace. … Because it actually fit all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace to women.’’
According to Time Magazine the Obama White House is "Boys' Club" that "marginalizes and ignores" women. Former economic adviser Christina Romer said she was treated as a "piece of meat."
Why is Obama harping about federal gov. funding to Planned Parenthood, when the Health Care Reform Act provides contraception and mamograms, etc. for women's health.
Women should no longer require Planned Parenthood to provide duplicate services.
The proof is in the pudding.
The true story of how Democrats treat women is their turning Hillary Rodham Clinton, into a pinata.
