106 counties could be key to presidency

LEESBURG, Va. — The outcome of the presidential race probably will depend on what occurs in the 106 counties that Republican George W. Bush won in 2004 and that President Obama won in 2008, according to an Associated Press analysis.

Those counties are full of fickle voters inclined to swing between Republican and Democratic candidates every four years. All are targeted as the president and his Republican challenger look for enough victories in enough states to reach the 270 electoral votes needed to capture the White House.

Comments

This is one election that presents voters with two very clear options: either A) an incumbent President who lacks leadership skills, is unable to govern due to his personal characteristics, and childish intellect(name calling, stupid words he makes up to call his opponents); or Gov, Mitts Romney, an intelligent, mature, skillful administrator, with a history and proven his ability to work with all political parties. This shouldn't be a difficult decision for voters when considering their future and the future they want for their families.

gee, I wonder who the Globe will endorse

The act of states to pass laws pledging their electorial college votes to the winner of the nationwide popular vote can't come quick enough. This will force candidates to truly campiagn nationwide and it will also off-set the outsized influence currently in the hands of a small block of voters.
