Despite big Republican advantages, Obama supporters fight for votes in southern Colorado among evangelicals and tens of thousands of active military personnel and retired veterans. The reason is simple, Democrats say: Every vote counts in a state that Obama won by nine points in 2008 but Romney now leads by a fraction of a percentage point, 47.9 to 47.7, according to an average of recent Colorado polls.
