CANTON — Mitt Romney testified under oath in 1991 that the former wife of Staples founder Tom Stemberg got a fair deal in the couple’s 1988 divorce, even though the company shares Maureen Sullivan Stemberg received were valued at a fraction of Staples’ stock price on the day of its initial public offering only a year later.
At the time the Stembergs split, Romney suggested, there was little indication Staples’ value would soon skyrocket.

The point of this article is that Sullivan Stemberg should have held her shares a little longer. Or hired a financial adviser with a chrystal ball. BTW Why has the Boston Globe chosen to ignore two articles published today by the AP? One shows that Romney has erased an Obama 16 point lead among women. The other reports that the Obama edge on the economy is gone. Chasing twenty yesar old news is more important.
They will print no good news for Romney, yet they will be forced to print it on November 7 when he wins and Obama loses!
I suggest the Globe use whatever journalistic prowess remains to report on the Benghazi fiasco and cover up by the Obama Administration.
This story on Mitt Romney is news? It is simply a lame attempt at producing some "October Surprise" and to discredit our former Governor.
You should all be ashamed to call yourselves "journalists" at this point.
Advocates for a failed president is more what your paper has become.
Really!!! This blatant...really!!! Have some damn dignity when it comes to reporting the news and not making the news. Your logo has mud on it.
Yawn. This is embarassing for the Globe, and would be even for the local bee or pennysaver. How about investigating why Obama hasn't released his college records or how he obtained a passport with a Connecticut number. No, just find the rug to sweep it under.
and Romney's tax returns?
No doubt the Globe was hoping to get something really juicy on Romney. You should feel like idiots. As Observer08 stated, how about doing some research on Obama regarding his college years and college records? Come on now, you wanted to clear the air on Romney, so clear the air on Obama's college records. At least tell us why you will not.
Because they're not insane birthers?
The legal action of the Globe to obtain these divorce transcripts was a travesty of justice:
This foul smelling maneuve was no more than a low-blow of a desperate liberal newspaper to make just another attempt to strike out at Governor Mitt Romney because he is challenging the Globe's man (OBama).
Shame on the Globe for their disgusting maneuvre. Nothing but a low-down action, However, this has become typical of the Boston Globe and their Editors during this election.
This disgusting article is a waste of news-print.
This is a story and the Benghazi Betrayal is not?
