Tuesday’s debate between Senator Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren, which was to be the fourth and final matchup in their nationally watched Senate race, was canceled after Brown withdrew, citing the hardships faced by residents in the path of Hurricane Sandy.
It was not clear if the debate, which was sponsored by a consortium of news outlets, including the Globe, would be rescheduled, with just seven days left until Election Day. Soon after Brown’s campaign announced Monday afternoon that he was pulling out of the debate, Warren’s campaign said she, too, would cancel.

It's nothing to do with the storm. The storm is just an excuse for Brown to cancel because he hasn't done very well in the past couple of debates.

Good move Scotty. Coward.
This coming from someone hiding behind a screen name, rather than posting his full name. How couragous.
Another snarky comment for bobganleyjr, who obviously has nothing to say that anyone would be interested in. And that's probably not his real name unless he likes to subject himself to ridicule.
The Great American Hero! The Colonel afraid of the lady lawyer! What would Abe Lincoln say?
How fast will he fold when Mitch McConnell tells him how to vote on such and such bill?
Will he be wearing his National Guard uniform in his pickup truck?
seems pretty wimpy to me. Why not ask to reschedule for thursday?
Scott Brown can LIE & LIE & LIE in his ads but he can't face Elizabeth Warren in person because she will point out that he is NOT pro-choice, NOT for equal pay, is NOT bi-partisan unless the vote isn't in question. Scott Brown is reprehensible. I can think of few people more loathesome.
I can think of one; the Professor Lizzie Little Feather, aka. the fake Indian.

Scott, stop making excuses. Show up, debate your opponant, and don't get in the way of clean up efforts.
A pathetic move, and it will be seen--is being seen--for what it is.
Did you read the story? Warren said he did the right thing and she also withdrew.
Yup we did read the article. He was the one who initiated the cancellation. He did do the right thing - for himself. Now he has irritated the media and they will be more than happy to use the time against him.

Scotty had important business to take care of...put on camos for photo ops and meet with kings, queens and prime ministers to plot storm-fighting strategy...<snort>...
couldn't John Kerry cover for Scott Brown? I mean where has Senator Kerry been during the storm? in RI checking on the Isabella?
There is no need at all for Senators in relationship to a storm. What would they do? This is the Governors job. Brown is just creating an excuse. He will be talking to the kings and queens or something. He just doesn't want to debate and that is all.
Kerry was at the MEMA headquarters in Framingham twice between Sunday and Monday. Ah, but where was our junior senator Brown, huh?
The irony is that Warren only wanted 3 debates in the first place, but Brown was fixated on having 4 and kind of beat up on her in the press until he got what he wanted.
I guess he changed his mind after his last lackluster performance.
Perfect timing for Brown, he gets to look like he gives a damn about people and skip the debate at the same time. What a weasel.
Just what scooter has wanted for a month. Gutless weasel.
I have no problem with postponing or canceling the debate. Enough already. We've overdosed on the whole thing by now. My problem is that it should have been a mutual decision so neither side looked crass enough to seem to be chasing political points over something as devastating as this storm was.
We have a choice. Either vote for the Indian who fully understands the financial system or the man who talks secretly to imaginary kinds, queens and prime ministers. I'm voting for the Indian. Brains over Beauty this time.
Dang! I was looking forward to Scott completely losing his temper and taking a swing at Warren on stage. Oh, well, he gets to go to photo ops for the day, looking handsome and resolute. Hey, Scott, I got leaves and tree branches all over my yard. Emergency! C'mon over and help me clean up, since your schedule has opened up. (Bring one o' them daughters with ya.)
