WASHINGTON — As Elizabeth Warren walked through the marble corridors of the Capitol on Tuesday, she tried assiduously to keep a low profile. Walking arm in arm with Senator-elect Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, Warren passed paintings of historic politicians, busts of former vice presidents, and the doors to the Senate floor they will enter once sworn in.
A small gaggle of reporters awaited one of the rising stars in Washington, and Warren knew it. She leaned into Baldwin and was overheard saying, “Pretend you’re talking to me.”

I suppose you'll blast her for not being the blowhard, attention seeker Brown was? Take her at her word when she says she wants to keep a lower profile. I'm sick of style, and all the quotes on this comment board will be about style over substance! She is not the career politician that all the others are and we've said that is what we want, except when what the press really wants is a Cosmo-Boy-Toy or Honey-Boo-Boo "star" political hack!

waiting for the substance...
she has to avoid reporters, she doesn't know the answers to the questions. she needs deval at her side.
From the article: A small gaggle of reporters awaited one of the rising stars in Washington, and Warren knew it. She leaned into Baldwin and was overheard saying, “Pretend you’re talking to me.” Wow. Pretend I'm an indian. Pretend I wrote receipes. Pretend pretend pretend. A message to all democrats and to Liz, "Be careful what you ask for, you may get it." Perhaps this is today's government. All sizzle, no steak. Maybe she is what it takes to perform well in Washington. I guess we'll see.
Elizabeth Warren needs to stay out of the limelight. Only give interviews with local reporters and focus on the needs of her constituents. Take a page from the book of Al Franken.
She's going to answer questions of local reporters now? You mean with truthful answers, or lawyered up phrases like "I didn't question my parents, what kid would?" when talking about checking the box as a 38 year old lawyer?

I wish the media would quite complaining about Elizabeth Warren's interactions with them. This is not news. And it is perfectly reasonable for her to want to get oriented and give herself and Harry Reid some flexibility regarding which committees she will be on before she starts giving lengthy interviews to the press. Discretion is the better part of valor, as they say.
You mean that same media that helped elect her? You mean the 4th estate that actually is the information provider between her and the people that elected her? Keep your cliche... she has nothing to report because she's clueless...that "waiting for Harry Reid" answer was provided to her by a member of the media. This just adds to the lack of direction and substance that she has, and you elected her...
The First Woman Native American Senator arrives at the Capitol!!! Where is the marching band?
That's it? That nonsense is all you have to say? People like you, with your pointless, witless comments helped us to win this election for her. Seriously, your self absorbed, pointless inability to talk about a real issue, along with the former Senators inability helped us to win. You might want to think about that because it is the honest truth. On behalf of Warren Volunteer campaigners -thank you for being you. An entire campaign and nobody on Brown's side could state a single positive reason for electing him. We provided a strong case for electing Elizabeth Warren even if you were to out of it to read that - we went door to door and got the majority to read it. It's a democracy and you lost. People like you always will.
Seriously, if true it would be a big deal, Democrats would proclaim it. From Elizabeth Warren's "Truth Team" section of her website:
"At some point after Elizabeth was hired at the University of Pennsylvania and at Harvard, she made officials aware of her Native American heritage because it's true and because she's proud of her background."
I LOVE Elizabeth Warren. I have for a very long time since I first saw her on Moyers many years ago. She is not I do not think by nature a politician -- and that is a GOOD thing. I do hope, however, her intellect puts her FRONT AND CENTER to SHOW the electorate what we fought so hard to get. A freshman senator must conform to a hierarchy of those who came before who have been there for quite some time. So it is natural that she not egotistically come out of the box like a battering ram. She has to do that prudently and presciently BUT in the long run she is SO smart that I want that fact to show. Not to wax clicheish but it is a dog eat dog world out there. If one shows fear the press picks it up like a hunter animal watching its prey. The press can be your friend or you can be its prey. Senator Warren, if you or your staff read this my humble advice is make them your friend! Speak out loudly and often. Do not be afraid as your intellect and academic excellence is your shield against the slings and arrows many (including opposition in the electorate) will try to throw at you. Show them you can take the onslaught and show them you are the winning senator your adoring electorate knew would, if elected, fight for us! I am proud to call you Senator Warren. It sounds so right! Best of luck.

The Globe should not remove innapropriate replies. Political discourse is rude and it reflects on the poster of the comments and should not be deleted unless it is a call to violence.
Toooo funny. How typical of the Warren charade. Imagine the juvenile foolishness of her asking Senator-elect Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, "Pretend you’re talking to me.”
There is absolutely nothing low profile about Warren. She is the Massachusetts Clown!
"pretend you're talking to me." Remember that quote, we're going to be hearing alot of it.

OMG-Elizabeth and her identical twin. It's going to be a long six years-but only six. And the truly sad thing is that she doesn't know she is only a placeholder. (That's because she is a blow-in from Oklahoma- she doesn't understand Mass. politics). She'll be told she has to step down in favor of Baby Joe and she will listen to her orders. Massachusetts is pathetic. I wish I had gotten out of here when I was young. But, as a lifelong Boston Globe reader and 30-yr subscriber, I cancelled my subscription today (probably)in Bangalore. I'm feeling very lighthearted!
