Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray made a high-profile declaration on Thursday that he is taking a serious look at the 2014 governor’s race, a reminder to the political class that the earliest stage of the campaign has begun, with would-be-candidates floating their names and assessing their chances.
The list is fairly thin so far, and includes potential candidates —Senator Scott Brown among them — who may also be in the mix for John F. Kerry’s US Senate seat, should he be named to a Cabinet post. Some other potential candidates are already taking themselves out of the running. Suzanne Bump, for example, said in an interview Thursday that she would focus on winning reelection as auditor.

Really?????????
He'll never make it out of the primary. Chelsea Housing, his midnight ride...where to start.
Remember Warren ... anything is possible for a Dem in Massachusetts, no matter how many skeletons in the closet.
Please let me know when he "formally announces" so I can "formally bust out in laughter".
He seems unlikely to win an election but I've been surprised before.
Can Tim Murray simply slide into Gov. Patrick's office?
What about his car crash and the Chelsea Housing fiasco?
I hope the buzz is the "collision advoidance alarm" on his new state ride...
Considering those listed, Murray would make the best Governor. People are not looking for a governor who can drive on black ice at 5:30 AM (which Murray admittedly is not good at), they want someone who can run the state government. The veterans and their families and the city Mayors know who has been working for them on the Hill and know they can count on Murray. He would be a strong contender (Not the Globe's choice because he is not from inside 128, Boston, Cambridge, Newton or Brookline...but certainly there is more to Massachusetts than meets the Globe's eye.)
People want someone they feel they can trust and Murray's inconsistant handling of the issues surrounding his car accident was anything but transparent. What has this man done anyway? What does he offer? He's a stick in the mud. Please name some deeds he is responcible for during the past four years?
Ms. Ortiz would make a great governor. She certainly knows a lot about helping (herself to) small businesses. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/2012/11/04/mass-motel-owner-fights-move-seize-property/q4XIbqGpqzKZoV2UIZDDaN/story.html Of course, Wal-mart and Motel 6, which have very similar drug crime records, but deeper pockets, are escaping her lethal, unconstitutional gaze.
If Murray is the democratic candidate for governor, a republican will be elected. Too much negative baggage!!!
I'm a Democrat. I gladly voted for Patrick, but Murray hasn't a chance of winning. I hope this is one trial baloon that get's busted real soon.
Tim can you spell c-o-r-r-u-p-t-i-o-n??
Charlie Baker has a ton of good qualities but his involvement with the Tisei campaign was another error on his part, the same kind of error that helped defeat him for governor the last time he ran. There seems to be something sour in the Republican soup that turns even more rancid when their campaigns begin. From what I've heard from people that know them, both Baker and Tisei are decent men. But instead of underlining or highlighting that quality, the campaigns they've run or been involved in (especially the Tisei campaign) have featured snarls and viciousness. I'm not sure Mr. Baker can get his hands clean enough to be good candidate for Governor again unless their is a very public shredding of the Party campaign apparatus and a vow to begin anew. What is good about Mr. Baker and his vision of being a Republican governor in a Democratic State? Good things can come from this approach.
No way CRASH!
