Closing arguments in the corruption trial of former state Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill and Cahill’s former top aide, Scott Campbell, have begun. Charles Rankin, the defense attorney for Campbell, has told the jury today that his client is the victim of a “downright offensive and a gross miscarriage of justice.” At least one of Cahill’s attorneys is also expected to address the jury, four of whom will end up being designated alternates and 12 of whom will decide the case.
