Elizabeth Warren in line for Senate bank role

Reports described lobbyists’ opposition

Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren, one of the fiercest critics of big banks, will probably be named to the Senate Banking Committee when she joins Congress next month, according to two Senate aides.

The appointment has not been formally announced by Senate leaders and will not be final until an official vote on assignments by the members. The pending appointment was described to the Globe by aides who requested anonymity because Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, has not made a formal announcement.

It would be a shame if she did not - she is one of the most knowledgeable people in the country about the banking industry.

Yes she has down a great job destroying small banks all across the US - with her new regulatory agency. Maybe she could do this for the private business sector too ?

I wonder if she still get paid 380K from Harvard ?

tsynchronouus or whatever your name is word of advice:  GIVE IT UP.  Your candidate lost and for good reason!

frankly it's an honest question.

All that Warren is going to do - is create more big banks - as they are easier to regulate and get contributions from, thanks Massachusetts Democrats. Our banking sector will now look like the EU, big banks funded by the government.

Im so proud the people of Massachuettes choose to elect her.

This is exactly why we elected her.  Senator Warren is the best possible advocate for taxpayers and consumers against the abuses by the finance industry.

I LOVE this woman.  I am SO thankful beyond belief she trounced Brown the corporatly owned puppet who voted 70% with the Republcan Party.  Bipartisian my posterior.  There was NOTHING bipartisian about him except that he said he was but he WASN'T.

Seantor-elect Warren will be on the banking committee where she needs to be and WILL work for the 99%.  My price above rubies candidate is on her way to taking and KEEPING this senate seat.  We have your back, Senator, and we KNOW you have ours.  It is thrilling to call you Senator Warren!

202-224-3542 Harry Reid is hearing from the banks. He also needs to hear from us. Call his office in DC and tell him why we voted for her. 202-224-3542

I can't believe I'm about to write this........  She shoud be on this committee.  It's either going to make it a well-rounded, functional task group or it's going to completely break her.  If she survives the first few moths and is able to enrich the process without stifling the relatively open markets, then I'll be somewhat impressed.  No, she wasn't my candidate but she is about to be one of my Senators so I'm man enough to take my lumps and wish her the best despite my minority held beliefs.

There is no question that this is the right spot for Warren. The Senate is run on seniority. It is very tough to break that barrier.

I was disappointed in her first three hires. She gave key positions to two men and one woman. Why wasn't it the other way aroiund. I am certain she could have found a woman equal in ability to one of the men.
