WASHINGTON — His nameplate has been unscrewed from the wall outside his office, a new state flag already planted in the hallway. The lease on his Capitol Hill apartment has expired, forcing him to crash at a fellow lawmaker’s. And for the first time in four decades, Representative Barney Frank will have no staff to transcribe his dictated memos: that means learning how to use a computer.
With his political career winding to a close, the 72-year-old Newton Democrat says he is worn out and eager to begin a new chapter, transferring his liberal ideals and sharp tongue from the halls of Congress to the more lucrative lecture circuit.

Good riddance! He will only be remembered as key contributor to the disasterous housing and economic collapse of this country.
Only by those who remember Republican fantasy, not fact.
This article sort of assumes without stating that Mr. Frank did something beneficial for Massachusetts and the nation. In fact, he was a tremendously bad congressman tainted by scandal early in his career and generally not very well liked. Good riddance, Mr. and Mr. Frank.
Barney's ego is going to take a terrible bruising. Now that he will be without any undeserved power he will quickly be forgotten. The television lights will soon douse and he will be just another bitter govt pensioner.
More so than Master Barney Frank himself, I would suggest that the voters of Massachusetts's 4th congressional district - then and now- would be the Real faces of any political term limits debate in this country. Just sayin'.
I'm a heterosexual male who works hard in my career to support my family. I follow politics extremely closely and I'm proud to have pulled the lever for Barney in each and every election he's been in dating back to his state senator days. Thank you for your service, Barney, and please continue to give hell to those who deserve it.
Thanks for supporting Mr. Frank and his progressive policies. It has made a huge difference in the quality of our lives.
poster boy for what is wrong w/ Congress
Just last week you made exactly the same claim about Reid. Which is it?
Esfsdfsdf: Did even occur to you that it was a group picture?
Thanks for your service, Barney. You have been a force for good. May that long continue in your new chapter in life!
Thank you so much for all you've done to fight for LGBT civil rights. Your legacy is remarkable and will live on long beyond your tenure. All the best.
Good ridance!
A lot of us are really really glad that he is gone. In my opinion, he did a lot of damage to the economy ( the housing sector). People who never should have received housing loans were given them and then, sadly, they lost the house.
