Obama makes offer to Boehner on ‘fiscal cliff’

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has agreed to curtail future cost-of-living increases for recipients of Social Security and softened his demand for higher taxes at upper income levels as part of accelerating negotiations with House Speaker John Boehner to avoid a ‘‘fiscal cliff,’’ people familiar with the talks said Monday.

This LONG, LONG article pro-Obama article by the AP is a lot of smoke and mirrors. Obama is conceding very little. As long as he refuses to touch the enormous costs of ObamaCare, and federal backing of all student loans, while still insisting that unemployment benefits be paid far longer than people actually worked, he is conceding little if anything. And still insisting that incomes over $400K be taxed more. Obama KNOWS that his higher taxes will NOT help reduce the budget deficit in any way. This proposal, along with higher estate taxes is just meant to PUNISH successful people. And the same rich people, like Warren buffet, who claim to agree with the President, are quietly selling off their capital gains and issuing dividends before the higher taxes start.

You're a riot, M6!  What would you have the president do, exactly? Do you have any idea at all what the word "compromise" means?
