Libya hearing to put Kerry in spotlight

WASHINGTON — Insight into how the next secretary of state might reshape US diplomacy could come Thursday, when Senator John F. Kerry, widely expected to win the post, chairs a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the fatal security failings at the US consulate in Libya.

The hearing on the terrorist attack in Benghazi comes on the heels of a scathing new report outlining “systemic failures and leadership and management deficiencies.”

Shouldn't the headline be: Libya Hearing to put Clinton in the Spotlight?

I hope Obama doesn't nominate him for SOS.  We need him in the Senate.  He shouldn't risk losing that seat to the GOP, thats crazy. Why take the chance unless they're willin to change the law back to what 35 states have.  The Special Election route does not work too well as a lot of people don't vote in them & also there's not enough time to get to know the candidates & where they stand on the issues.

The special election Law was changed TWICE before, both at Ted Kennedy's urging. And the 2 changes before were both strongly endorsed by the Boston Globe. Globe wants to pretend that it had nothing to do with the previous changes. And so much for what 35 states do. THEY didn't keep changing their laws once they made them...And John Kerry may be in the Senate for a while yet..Until Hillary comes out of hiding and testifies.

What difference does that make.  The Special Election is a bad idea that is why 35 do not use it.  There are other alternatives.  Some state have appointment by the Gov but the prson must be of the same Party as the Seantor leaving.  That is fair as the people voted that person in.  And then going in tothe next regular election is fairer which is a longer time to campaign & raise funds.

I think we tried this & it didn't work.  It was an experiment but it's no reason to keep it when it is not the best option.

Four STate Dept officials have just resigned after the independent report was issued yesterday. The big question is why Hilary did not fire these four right after the attack? What did she know now that she did not know then? If Hilary is a good Secretary of STate then she would known who was at fault shortly after the slaughter and fired them. BUT SHE DID NOTHING! The only other possible answer is that is perhaps that she was clueless - wow, then God help us.

Hillary is not clueless. She's a loyal Administration politician. If you watched Hillary on TV blaming "The Video" you could tell that she was just lying. And Charles Woods, father of Navy Seal Tyrone Woods, KNEW that Hillary was lying when she told him, "We will arrest and prosecute the man who made this film"

John Kerry should not be confirmed as the next Secretary of State until the current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, comes out of hiding and testifies before the House and Senate.
