President Obama nominates John Kerry to be next secretary of state

President Obama today nominated Senator John F. Kerry to be the country’s 68th secretary of state, citing the Massachusetts Democrat’s deep political and diplomatic experience in selecting him to be the country’s chief foreign representative and top Cabinet officer.

“In a sense, John’s entire life has prepared him for this role,” Obama said during a joint appearance with Kerry in the Roosevelt Room, just steps from the Oval Office the senator tried to reach himself as their party’s 2004 presidential nominee.

Not cogent, but he adds a little levity.

Welcome back to the Senate, Scott Brown.

Scott Brown is like a bad penney.  You just can't get rid of him.

Well, maybe we can. Don't give up yet.

Barney and Kerry gone!

He must think he's accomplished more in life than Frank and Kerry by making pointless comments on the Globe forums.

Wonder if Howie Carr will keep labeling Kerry as 'Liveshot'. . .  Putin would love hearing about that.... LOL

Congrats to a deserving public servant.

Can the graphic hagiography please mention Kerry's support for the Iraq war? As it is, the only mention of Iraq is his opposition to the surge. That's hardly his most important involvement with the war.

Howie Carr, I heard your remarks today about Kerry denouncing some of the troops for their wrongful behavior. OK, Howie,

don't just accuse, back up your statements that Kerry lied.

Imaginr TRAITOR JOHN............Sec of DEFENSE........................What a LOSER

embalmer has never accomplished anything in his life. He can't even use a keyboard properly. He hates those who made something out of their lives. Must be jealousy.

Wasn't Kerry the one that said "better stay in school or you'll end up in the army"?   How inspirational for our Sec of Defense.
