WASHINGTON (AP) — Whether negotiated in a rush before the new year or left for early January, the fiscal deal President Barack Obama and Congress cobble together will be far smaller than what they initially envisioned as an alternative to purposefully distasteful tax increases and spending cuts.
Instead, their deal, if a deal they indeed cut, will put off some big decisions about tax and entitlement changes and leave other deadlines in place that will likely lead to similar moments of brinkmanship, some in just a matter of weeks.

So Sunday's "Meet the Press" wasn't even held on Sunday. More FAKERY by the President. This "Political Theater" interview should just make Republicans angrier at the President.
His "Fair Deal" is for NO CUTS and plenty of additional taxes. He created the Cliff. So the correct name is the "Obama Cliff". If Obama truly wanted to end the "Brinkmanship" he would just agree to no new taxes.
And if the markets on Friday thought that Obama was offering a "Fair Deal" they wouldn't have CRASHED on Friday, as soon as Obama's "Fair Deal" was announced.
And if Obama thought he was offering why didn't he go on CNBC, so he could explain where he arrived at his calculations?
When will the NY Times and the Globe point the finger at the REAL Obstructionist here? They know who he is. And the markets know who he is. He's the one that they never mention in these reports.
