Senate remains short of a fiscal deal as deadline nears

WASHINGTON (AP) — The top Senate negotiators on the effort to prevent the government from going over the ‘‘fiscal cliff’’ offered a pessimistic assessment Sunday barely 24 hours before a deadline to avert tax hikes on virtually every worker.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said he’s yet to receive a response to an offer he made on Saturday evening to Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., the top Democratic negotiator. The Kentucky Republican said he’s reached out to Vice President Joe Biden in hopes of breaking the impasse.

How come the Boston Glob isn't carrying the story that Barry the O is using Chicago style politics to keep federal officials of higher ranks loyal to him the old fashioned way - give them more money? That includes JoJo Biden, the veep, but not lower ranking federal officials whose pay packets are frozen as Barry shoots out balderdash on dish and sash in his usual pandering way. Of course now he is on a testosterone kick, challenging everybody to remember that he won the election, and what he wants has to be the way. When will this jerk declare himself above the limits set by the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and then try to pronounce himself President for Life? Sort of like a tinpot dictator in a banana republic?

You really don't know how federal pay works, do you?  The seperation of the executive pay scale from the GS scale and who authorizes which?  You really should do a little reading up on things before you accept news stories.  Reality really helps to filter out the bs in news stories.

attaturk, Correct me if I am wrong. Obama passed an executive order to eliminate the pay freeze.  If people who fall under this order get a raise isn't that because of Obama?
