John Kerry parts with warning on gridlock

WASHINGTON — Senator John Kerry, in a long and occasionally emotional farewell speech in the chamber where he represented Massachusetts for 28 years, praised the Senate’s history of pragmatic compromise while warning that political gridlock in Washington threatens America’s reputation abroad.

But the Bay State lawmaker expressed optimism during his 50-minute good-bye, urging his colleagues to heed the lessons he learned as a freshman legislator in 1985.

Thank you, Senator Kerry, for all your efforts. I wish you well in your new role. We're so fortunate to have your commitment to public service.

It is a sad and indefensible situation that we see in Washington these days, and losing your voice will not improve things there. I, too, condemn the state of affairs there:

"the decline of comity, the deluge of money, and the disregard for facts"

Washington: get the work done, or get out.

What a boring fraud. Report for duty somewhere else. It has always been about John Kerry from day 1.

Sad...I liked him until he took up with Heinz...that's when he became a fraud much like Gore...

Oh and don't worry about the gridlock, we have Lizzie and Mo in there now...what a joke this state has become.

"speech", really, but maybe you're dyslexic.  But not matter: I invite you back to yesterday's column and our little tit-for-tat. You posted the election map from last year which is the same one I had seen. I'd like to know what we're seeing differently and would appreciate your input...

Ha ha, excuse me: "But no matter"  ... Maybe I'M dyslexic!

Oh Begzee. You can't spell. You can't source. You can't interpret. I really doubt you can golf for ____. But I've got nothing against you and I'm going to let you rant and rave in your unique, disjointed, nonsensical way without questioning you any more because you so obviously need to vent. So go at it- spew your nonsense about how Iowa's on the coast, or whatever you want, make it up as you go along. I'm beginning to find it all quite humorous, really. But you know, the world is changing, the country's changing, your Mittens lost the election and Obama's popularity is at a three-year high and there's really nothing you can say or do to make things Nice again, like they were when you were a pampered little boy. Sorry about all that, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

must be nice to be a "progressive" where facts do not matter, only your little opinion
