GOP dismisses Obama’s proposals on wages, education

Leadership says plans will hinder creation of jobs

WASHINGTON — President Obama called Tuesday for a higher minimum wage and stricter gun laws, proposed making preschool available to all 4-year-olds, and asked Congress to rewrite US immigration law.

On Wednesday, Republicans in Congress made clear that little of it will happen.

Why are GOP politicians refusing to do these things without even taking time to ssk their constituents?  We know what voters want and we know which GOP politicians refuse to listen.  And, by this time next year, every one of them will be looking for votes.  Now is the time to start teaching voters how to coordinate districtwide rejection of this behavior.

Republicans have been voting against raises in the minimum wage since forever.  The claim is always the same - a raise in the minimum wage will decrease employment.  The result has always been that this is false.

As for education much of the Republican strength is in states that spend as little as possible on education.  What other attitude would you expect them to have ?

The lying,do-nothing Republicans claim to be all for the middle class, but heaven forbid workers should be allowed to earn $9 an hour.

Federal (taxpayer) money for PRESCHOOL education? When the govenment has finally admitted that 47 years of the Head Start program is a complete FAILURE? By the 3rd grade, pupils who were never in "Head Start" perform the same as pupils who were given private tutoring under Head Start. Almost a TRILLION Dollars DOWN THE DRAIN....The ONLY purpose for Preschool funding will be to throw Liberal Propaganda at babies.

Otherwise, once again, we have Liberals insisting that the GOP accept whatever rhetoric Obama throws at them and just give him more money and taxes, no questions asked...HOWEVER, if the GOP does this, as they did when they folded at the January "Fiscal Cliff" negotiations, the media said "See, the Republican Party is WEAK and DIVIDED". ..So if that is what the GOP gets for going along with Obama..Why should it act like Democrats and go along?
