WASHINGTON — A week before mandatory budget cuts go into effect across the government, the Department of Homeland Security has started releasing illegal immigrants being held in immigration jails across the country, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Tuesday.
Gillian Christensen, an agency spokeswoman, said it has reviewed several hundred cases of immigrants being held and released them in the last week. They have been ‘‘placed on an appropriate, more cost-effective form of supervised release,’’ she said.

I think it is time Obama was impeached. He obviously is threatening the people of this country by releasing criminals to prey on us.

The FACT is, the budget is going to be larger than last year, cuts or no cuts. So Obama is going to give us all a taste of his threats? The budget hasn't even been cut, yet.

The fact is, the feds are NOT out of money, nor are they going to have the huge shortfalls they are trying to terrify everyone with. Releasing criminals? This is a thoroughly disgusting move by the Obama White House: "Give me the tax hikes I demand or I will jettison the rule of law and free illegal aliens." What next? Will kidnappers be released from federal prison and terrorists placed on probation?
this is childish, the cuts haven't even been implemented yet. Our government wasted 125 billion dollars on improper payments to dead people, prisoners, people that don't qualify, people working while collecting.

"Democrat controlled congress"? Where have you been, hon? Part of the reason this action is being taken is to lower the cost of the DHS/ICE budget; and that might not have to be done if the REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED CONGRESS wasn't fighting with the Prez and blocking him.
At any rate, this is a good opening salvo from the White House, to show the budget cutters some of the cause and effect of their (in)actions.
The preferred solution to the crisis-of-the-day would be to negotiate an agreement that would close tax loopholes that are “spending” by another name and do some honest work on entitlements. Republicans believe a modest increase on the very richest Americans was such a tremendous burden that they couldn’t possibly consider doing anything more. The oil companies and the hedgefund managers can rest easy with Boehner, Cantor and McConnell covering their backs. Meanwhile, if you are considering flying anywhere after March 27th…think very carefully. Even those oil barons and hedgefund captains with their private jets might be a tad inconvenienced by air traffic control issues…poor fellows.
Oh puhleeeze. In your parlance: The democrats believe that a few cuts to an increased budget is such a tremendous burden that they cannot possibly do ANYTHING?

Jay Carney said that "Career Employees" from the HHS made this devision. Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama didn't know about it. HUH?? Well if you knew anything at all about government you would know that "career" employee's make the decisions as they relate to budget reductions. Again the problem is people with agenda's trying to make rational statements. It's really not possible as all you care to do is attack a pol whether it be one on the left or the right. By the way so the budget is going up. The deficit each year has gone down. You don't mention that. We could agree on a lot of things except you seem only to be intersted in knocking Obama. I don't give a flip about Obama. I'm only interested in the issue at hand. Whether it is the sequester or something else. You have an agenda. I'm simply interested. There is a difference.
