Sequestration? Few can explain latest budget crisis

Do you know what sequestration means?

“No.”

Comments

We're all starting to get emergency fatigue, how true is that, never let a good crisis go to waste, the people are sick of Washington and their bull.

Is the EBT crowd in line to take a cut?

In any effort to do the right thing, thre will always be something wrong. Very easy to dump on the lowest level of society. They're getting something you're not. You're getting robbed. Look into the corporate fraud and tax dodges and you'll find where the big costs to the taxpayer are.

Never, they will continue to suck up EVERY available benefit at the public trough. While you and I continue to work at least ten hours a day(to pay for them), they will continue to wait for the mailman to deliever their check as they watch Oprah. As long as our feerless President is in charge, there will be no incentive to work. The numbers on the dole will continue to rise and eventually we will become Greece or Spain.

Sure, Few can explain the budget crisis if they only read the Boston Globe. Globe is only too happy to tell you how to think. On the other hand, if you also read some other newspapers, even the NY Times, you will know the answer to that question.

It's certainly affecting your thinking.

Miker6, What is the answer to the question?

The question that should have been asked is this. If more money is allocated to the budget this year than was allocated last year, how does that equate to a cut in the budget? Of course the correct answer is that it doesn't, which brings up a follow-up question. Why do so many people buy into this economic hokum? The answer is in the newly coined phrase from the last election - "low information voter."

A question:  Would it be an emergency if the media and the politicians didn't declare it as such?

Set the wayyyy back machine, to like about 70 or 80 years ago.  When people were not inundated with this 24/7 news about every little twitch that occurs in DC.  You might read a few stories about this problem the morons were having, but then you would look around and sure enough, things were chugging right along.  No one screaming "The sky is falling" in your ear all the time.

But now?  We have the media that MUST fill up air time, continually.  Over and over, gotta be more dramatic than the other channel.  In fact, one newsperson (I use that term loosely) tries to be more dramatic than the next.  Language has to be ramped up.  Notice how often the word "MASSIVE" is used lately?  It just rolls off the tongue so nicely.  DISASTER sounds good too.

The politicians eat it all up because any publicity is good publicity.  They live for emergencies, so why not have one right after another.  It is good for them, it is good for the media....and well, the rest of us are starting to figure out:  The emergencies aren't emergencies.

Obama may just be the guy who finally convinces us all that it is a bunch of BS and we should flip on a differrent channel.

It seems as though, for the first time since he hit the national spotlight, Obama does not have the press in his back pocket.  Looking at this from a practical standpoint the MSM have realised that 1. It's not the end of the world and 2. People are tuning it out.
After years of recession with having to make do with less, watching jobs evaporate all the while the government keeps expanding - even liberals are starting to wonder why government keeps expanding faster than even college tuitions rise.

Sequestration is just the latest step in the republican march to ensconce their wealthy benefactors and themselves in the leadershp positions of a permanent oligarchy.

Wow, did you copy that word for word from some democratic propoganda sheet?

Of course, you, like many other Obama worshiping democrats conveniently forget that Obama thought sequestration was a good idea.

Aren't you getting a little tired of kneeling in front of His Majesty?

The Democrats want to talk about needing more taxes, HOOEY!  Here is what they have been doing with our taxes:

Two high-tech luxury jets that the FBI convinced Congress were needed for the fight against global terrorism have instead been used to ferry around Attorney General Eric Holder and his predecessors, as well as FBI Director Robert Mueller, according to a government report released Thursday.

Those officials -- which included Holder and Mueller, as well as former Attorneys General Michael Mukasey and Alberto Gonzales -- racked up nearly 700 "nonmission" trips between 2007 and 2011, at a cost of $11.4 million, according to the Government Accountability Office

As they say in DC, a couple million here, a couple million there, pretty soon you are talking about real money.  Unfortunately, those democratic clowns have been spending OUR money.

Don't bother writing about how a Rep took a trip, blah, blah.  Since His Majesty Obama took office, the budget has been growing by leaps and bounds.

Skip the part about "Faux News" too, the report came out of the GAO, isn't the conservatives problem that liberal rags and so called news stations do not report this information.

I forgot to mention, since this bunch ferries themselves around in hi tech luxury jets, they won't be worried about Obammer's threats of long lines at the airport, either.  Obammer meanwhile, will be cruising to the tune of $180K/hr in Air Force 1.

After what Holder pulled, he should be riding on a prison plane.

Tony 7586 asked me "What's i the answer to the question?".Here's the answer. Courtesy of Congresional Black Caucus member Maxine Waters: Maxine announced "When the SECRESTATION takes plaxce 170 MILLION JOBS could vbe Lost TOMORROW!!"..Apparently she didn't get the latest David Axlerod or david Plouffe memo to all Democrats:" Mr. Obama will be WALKING BACK his Armageddon pronouncements now: Obama: "You Won't Notice the cuts right away, probably in a month or so".

Our House of Representatives were shown leaving Washington for a long weekend. Do they have the answer to the question posed above?

Replies

Actually the House DID answer the question. It passed a bill that would allow President Obama to CHOOSE which budgets to cut within any departmnt. Every department can cut out waste without laying anyone off. Sounds reasonable to me. But Obama said I will VETO such a bill if it passes the Senate (which means that Obama wants to keep a threat of layoffs to raise taxes). Obama didn't have to veto as Senate Democrats defeated the same bill that was proposed by Senate republicans....So therefore the Senate and the President are the ones to ask. You can find that information in numerous news sources like the WSJ, the NY times, Washington Post, as well as the Boston Herald. But you won't find it in the Boston Globe. Because then the Globe would have to point it out in this column.
