Warren says GOP weakens consumer protection agency

WASHINGTON — Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren accused her GOP counterparts at a Senate Banking Committee hearing of attempting to weaken a fledgling consumer protection bureau, as Republican senators continued to oppose the nominee to head the agency.

Republicans object to the structure and what they call a lack of oversight for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was established by the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial services regulatory overhaul. In turn, they’ve put up stiff resistance to the confirmation of Richard Cordray as its director.

I watched some of this earlier, and it is really something to see how our Senator Warren out does the good old boys on the Senate Banking Committee. Really impressive. She knows this stuff inside and out, is really articulate, and takes her role very seriously. The other members, not so much, including both sides of the aisle. I was proud to vote for her in November, even more so today. Scott Who?

Thank you Senator!

Thank you Senator Warren for staying the course. You are going to rattle the Good Old Boys on both sides of the Senate, but I hope you can continue to educate America with your knowledge and skills. Consumers need you!

Senator Warren,  You make us proud.  Be our bastion.  The Republicans aren't fooling anything but the fools when they pull their chicanary.  I'm glad you call them out on it and blind them with the facts.

Notice that the Globe doesn't explain, with verifiable facts and figures, exactly HOW Elizabeth Warren is helping the Consumer. (And her supporters are content to take the Globe at it's word here). And helping the Consumer includes improving the economy so that the "Consumer" has a JOB. Also raising TAXES on the same Consumers is hardly helping them. Also Warren isn't concerned that in 2014 employers will be cutting employee hours, raising prices (to pay for healthcare) and pushing their employees onto government-subsidized politicized healthcare.

We are proud of you Senator Warren!

I have to give her props. Stuck it to the money guys good. Keep it up but you need to be able to speak off the cuff. Dodging the press afterwards makes you look weak. Deval isn't there for you anymore.
