For Mitt Romney, another public step in return

Speech before GOP group will be first since loss

WASHINGTON — Organizers of an annual conservative Republican gathering this week on the edge of the Potomac River have photographs of Marco Rubio, Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan, and Rand Paul emblazoned across their website with the headline “America’s Future: The Next Generation of Conservatives.”

Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and last year’s GOP presidential nominee, meanwhile, is just another face in the crowd, listed alphabetically a few screens down among several dozen other speakers. He comes just before Wayne Allyn Root, the 2008 libertarian nominee for vice president.

What derogatory comments about the 47% will that dummy make this time?

cpac....romney....palin....trump....and others. participants in a creepy freaky....I guess...political sideshow. Perhaps like the fabled Star Wars bar scene except these people are real and represent a vision of America that I pray never comes to fruition. Somehow romney fits in here. To say it would be interesting to hear what he says and reaction from the assembled mutants is akin to passing by a toxic waste dump on the hottest of summer days would be appropriate.....

I never would have thought fascicm would do so well in the GOP.

The conference that day will also feature speeches by business mogul and entertainer Donald Trump, National Rifle Association head Wayne LaPierre, Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator, and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.-----------------I thought the Gong Show was history.

I don't really understand how they can use the word "future' when the lineup includes so many has-beens.  It DOES seem like the Star Wars bar scene.

If Romney envisions a political future, he should tell the CPAC folks just how much they negatively affected his campaign by pushing him far to the right of the mainstream.  But that's something a leader might do, and Romney was most definitely a follower in his campaign.

Given that Romney is bright and articulate, maybe he can advise the has been lineup that they have been losers and will continue being losers if their message and their candidates don't reflect the American people and what they want.
