WASHINGTON — A group trying to draft Senator Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016 launched a website Tuesday, with plans to use a national gathering of influential liberal activists later this week to gain publicity and recruit additional members.

The fledgling effort is another sign that liberal activists will continue to float a possible campaign, despite Warren’s persistent denials that she is running. Warren has pledged to fill out her Senate term, which runs through 2019.

Erica Sagrans, 31, who grew up in Cambridge, said she is the group’s campaign manager, a position that she hopes will become paid once the group forms a committee and begins raising money.

Warren’s spokeswoman, Lacey Rose, said that the Massachusetts Democrat is not working with the group, ready4warren.com, nor endorsing its plans.

“No, Senator Warren does not support this effort,” Rose said in an e-mail.

Warren’s national profile continues to grow as she speaks for Senate candidates around the country. Tuesday, Warren’s own leadership PAC, PAC for a Level Playing Field, reported its largest fund-raising quarter to date, raising $620,000.

Though the unaffiliated website to draft Warren is new, the group behind it has a Twitter feed that has attracted 10,600 followers and a Facebook page with about 9,000 “likes.” The other efforts started in September.

Sagrans said there are about 20 core organizers in the effort. She said the group is planning meetings and a show of support when Warren appears Friday at Netroots Nation, an annual gathering of liberal activists and bloggers being held this week in Detroit.
