Another publication is breaking with tradition to stand against Donald Trump.

USA Today's editorial board broke its silence on presidential races for the first time to pen an editorial urging readers against voting for Donald Trump.

"In the 34-year history of USA Today, the Editorial Board has never taken sides in the presidential race," the board wrote in the piece. "This year, the choice isn't between two capable major party nominees. . . one of the candidates — Republican nominee Donald Trump — is, by unanimous consensus of the Editorial Board, unfit for the presidency."

The board said that Trump "has demonstrated repeatedly that he lacks the temperament, knowledge, steadiness and honesty that America needs from its presidents."

The piece goes on to list eight key reasons why Trump should not become the leader of the free world, citing his "checkered" business past, his prejudicial comments, and also noting that he is "a serial liar."

However, the piece steers clear of endorsing Trump's main rival, Hillary Clinton.

"Our bottom-line advice for voters is this: Stay true to your convictions. That might mean a vote for Clinton. . . . Or it might mean a third-party candidate. Or a write-in.

"By all means vote, just not for Donald Trump."

The USA Today piece comes two weeks after the editorial board of The Union Leader in New Hampshire broke with 100 years of tradition by not endorsing the Republican nominee, choosing instead to throw its support behind Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson.
