On the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack that killed more than 2,400 people, Newt Gingrich appeared to praise the Japanese for their “professional brilliance and technological power” for carrying out the attack.
In three tweets Wednesday evening, the former house speaker said that Dec. 7 was “a good day to remember that the world is dangerous and shattering surprise is possible even when we have been warned.”
He then continued on to note that 75 years ago, “the Japanese displayed professional brilliance and technological power launching surprises from Hawaii to the Philippines.”
The attack in Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941, launched the United States into World War II.
