President Donald Trump says he will unveil his nominee to fill the vacancy on the US Supreme Court next week.

The court has been sitting with only eight members since the death of associate justice Antonin Scalia last February.

Former president Barack Obama had tapped Merrick Garland to fill the vacancy, but the Senate never acted on the nomination.
