OMAHA — Climate specialists say the drought affecting more than half of the nation will persist in the Great Plains and West through in the spring and spread over more of California, Texas, and Florida.
Specialists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center and the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln released their latest predictions on Thursday.

We move vast quantities of Natural Gas across this country. We have electrical grids that while they are largely independent, are ultimately interconnected. Why are we not digging massive tunnels/piplines to move excess water from where it's not wanted (flooded regions, etc) to where it's needed for agriculture? It could be constantly redirected or even ponded if needed. Of course, places like Las Vegas would be excluded since the amount of water wasted through evaporation in the name of art is insane.
America's breadbasket needs help. We have millions of alble-bodied citizens who are unemployed. History tells us that much of the WPA worked for the good of the Nation. Let's go.
