Pakistan says it is unable to bring Taliban to peace talks

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over mooted Taliban peace talks spilled into the open yesterday, when Pakistan’s foreign minister described as “preposterous’’ Afghan demands that her country deliver the insurgent leadership to the negotiating table. “If that is the expectation, there is no reality check,’’ said Hina Rabbani Khar, when asked if Pakistan could produce the Taliban leader, Mullah Muhammad Omar. “It is not only unrealistic but preposterous.’’
