Russian opposition leader will broaden role

RUSSIA

MOSCOW — Amid heightening pressure on leaders of Moscow street protests, the billionaire Mikhail D. Prokhorov announced Saturday that he was setting aside his business interests altogether to devote his attention to politics. Prokhorov, the owner of the Brooklyn Nets, ran for president in March but won just 8 percent of the vote. President Vladimir Putin has since introduced many new measures aimed at quieting dissent.
