LONDON — Prince Charles does not order seven boiled eggs for breakfast in order to choose the one he likes best, his office said in a statement designed to dispel myths about the heir to the British throne.
The claim was made by BBC Television presenter Jeremy Paxman in a 2006 book. The website of the prince of Wales, as Charles is officially known, was updated Tuesday to dismiss that assertion and other commonly held views about the prince and his family.

>Prince Charles does not order seven boiled eggs for breakfast in order to choose the one he likes best This reminded me of a dialect joke dating from World War I, when Scottish soldiers fought in France. One new arrival asked a comrade how he could order food when on leave, when he did not know the language. "It's not a big problem, Laddie," the other replied. "If you want one egg, you say 'Oof!' ['oeuf'] If you want more, you say 'Twa oof!' ['twa' is Scots dialect for 'two'], and when the silly fool brings three ['trois oeufs'], you send one back!"
