WASHINGTON — Lawmakers said Sunday they want to know who had a hand in creating the Obama administration’s now-discredited ‘‘talking points’’ about the Sept. 11 attack on a US diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, and why a final draft omitted the CIA’s early conclusion that terrorists were involved.
The answers could explain why President Obama and top aides, including UN Ambassador Susan Rice, described the attack for days afterward as a protest against an anti-Islam video that spontaneously turned violent and why they played down any potential link to Al Qaeda.

Perhaps instead of this, Congress should hold hearings to educate themselves on what is known as confirmation bias, the tendency to see what you expect to see regardless of what's actually there. Or in the case of Republicans, what you wish to see.

Nixon wasn't impeached for lying. He and memberss of his administration authorized an illegal activity -- breaking and entering and theft, and then they did everything they could to cover it up. Thus, the President, Nixon, was directly connected to the breaking of the law. None of the other two items you cite (Clinton and Obama) have been connected to law-breaking, to this point. The Clinton situation was purely political, starting with the Starr investigation into the Whitewater issue. As that went on, the Lewinsky affair was uncovered. People's grasp of history, even relatively recent history, seems to be tenuous at best. Where impeachment is concerned, one always has to watch out for the partisan reasons, rather than for substantive ones.
At this point, this is a complete WITCH HUNT, intended to harrass the President. The issues connected to the Benghazi affair are the poor intelligence before 9/11/2012, and the inadaquate security for the embassy. Drop the "talking points" issue; it gets us nowhere. Actions like this only keep the masses stirred up and accomplish nothing.

And it's more than Benghazi .The entire "Arab Spring" (which the Globe praised) is a complete FAILURE...Now we see that the Muslim Brotherhood is anti-Israel. And Hamas is using Iranian rockets to attack Israel. Iran smuggles weapons to Hamas, Hezbolla, Syria, and Iraq. And it is still building a bomb. Obama's sanctions are yet another FAILURE. Susan Rice was told what to say not by an intelligence official. A White House POLITICIAN told Rice. It's time for Valerie Jarrett, David Axlerod, and Hillary Clinton to testify before Congress...And right now, as Israel's war with Hamas and Iran unfolds, we are seeing first hand, the complete ineptness of Barack Obama's Middle East foreign policy.
