CAIRO (AP) — Egypt postponed the start of early voting on a disputed draft constitution Friday, signaling an attempt by President Mohammed Morsi’s government to back down and give room for negotiations with the opposition as it faces mass protests calling for the referendum to be canceled.

"It was not immediately clear if the postponement was a concession or how that would affect the overall referendum timeline." The reason for the postponement is that several Egyptian embassies have refused to oversee the referendum! I urge the author to follow the statements and speeches given by members of the Muslim Brotherhood and affiliated organizations, media channels and Facebook groups regarding the opposition to better understand the crisis. The MB is engaging in systematic hate speech against the opposition and calls openly on supporters to "fight" (literally) those who challenge the legitimacy of the President. It has moreover kidnapped, brutally tortured and unlawfully held hostage almost hundred political activists on Tuesday under the pretext that they were thugs. The president of the country conceded to the unlawful arrest by civilians and posited these activists as thugs in his formal speech! Of course, once they have been taken to the prosectuors they were immidiately released. You need to go beyond the "official" scenario to understand what is really going on in this country.
