Russian official reassures US adoptive parents

MOSCOW — Russia’s ombudsman for children’s rights sought to reassure American adoptive parents Thursday that they will be allowed to take their children back to the United States. But some with court rulings in their favor say they are still in legal limbo.

A Russian law banning adoptions by US citizens was rushed through Parliament in December and sped to President Vladimir Putin’s desk in less than 10 days in retaliation over a US law calling for sanctions on Russians identified as human-rights violators.
