Iran’s president volunteers for space

TEHRAN — President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday he is ready to take the risk of being the first Iranian astronaut as part of Iran’s goal of a manned space flight.

‘‘I’m ready to be the first Iranian to sacrifice myself for our country’s scientists,’’ the official IRNA news agency quoted him as saying in an address to space scientists in Tehran.

What a great idea. . . One would think that Liveshot Kerry, the new U.S. Secretary of State, would be already working to stimulate Iranian officialdom to encourage their wacko leader to quickly get his spacesuit made for an as-soon-as-possible launch.
