Campaign absurdity time

A “SAY anything’’ mentality has overspread the Republican presidential campaign.

In his caucus-night speech in Iowa, Rick Santorum recounted his grandfather’s decision to leave Mussolini’s fascist Italy for America. He then asserted that Democrats want to raise taxes and use the revenue to increase dependency by “promoting more Medicaid and food stamps and all sorts of social welfare programs, and passing ObamaCare . . . More and more dependency and more and more government. Exactly what my grandfather left in 1925.’’ Thus Santorum strongly implies that Democrats favor policies that would mimic or lead to Mussolini-style fascism.
