There are plenty of reasons to wish a Whitey memoir could also be a smashing commercial success. Think of all of the victims lined up for restitution. Imagine the payouts Bulger could make with a giant advance, or bestseller status. And that’s not even considering the movie rights. The trouble is, big book sales are increasingly elusive in today’s post-Borders, over-Amazoned publishing climate. And by now, tales of Boston mobsters are as well-traveled as the Tobin Bridge. So as Bulger considers his literary options in the confines of the Plymouth County Correctional Facility, I offer him these slightly-more-dramatic suggestions.
