Mitt Romney’s general election chances are better than people think

Mitt Romney has emerged from a bruising primary battle in better shape than people would expected. He’s now positioned to run a competitive race with incumbent Barack Obama. The intra-party battle toughened him up and taught him how to handle tough attacks. Although he suffers from both a likability and gender gap, the Republican nominee-to-be will now have a chance to reshape his image and court the independent voters who will decide the presidential election.
