A man of God needed help, along with a woman who was taken hostage with him.
Rescuing them was “not a Democratic thing. It’s not a Republican thing. It’s a Kingdom thing,” said the Rev. Matthew K. Thompson, after the Rev. Michel Louis of Dorchester and Lissa Alphonse of Everett, were released by their Egyptian captor on Monday.

Adults acting like children, waste of time on this article Joan. It's always about the election, everything in this country is now the election. People are so sick of it.
Good going, Joanie babe... giving Brownie some credit instead of pulling a Johnson and currying Demomob favor. Loverly bit your finding that Kerry put on his arrogance hat and waited to make a phone call before trying to grab all the credit for whatever. Maybe you helped the GOP at least make an honest offer to keep two-party representation for this state at the nation's capital instead of continuing the Leninist imitation that Deeval and Kerry and Markey, etc. wish to see as an example to the rest of the U.S.
The secretary of state was in Egypt and Scooter is arrogant and stupid enough to think he had a part? Or does he just think we are stupid enough to believe it?
So Scott Brown puts the ball in the hoop from half court again. However only after a few manipulations as he did in that campaign video(it was five attempts not the illusory one). It is those who do their good work for its own sake and not political gain that we should respect. When Bill Richardson made several trips to the Middle East, Far East, and Africa at the bequest of this government or others he went without fanfare and did not seek public recognition. You can ask his freed hostages what they thought of his courage and intelligence in such situations. Scott Brown just can not get past his megalomania. The same also goes for Kerry. He could have just let the press do its job of ferreting out the details. For both of them they should realize this is a safety issue because gloating over superior negotiating skill with unsavory elements only makes it worse the next time. It will make it harder to achieve a desired outcome when you tell people you are better than they are at this game, especially when they temporarily hold the upper hand.

Rev. Rivers said Senator Brown was primarily responsible for the successful rescue. Hell hath no fury like a Kerry scorned. Petty, mean and obscene accurately describes this debacle of political play time. Sadly, it plays in the contest between Ms. Warren and the senator. That is the real source of the outrage. In a contest where Mr. Kerry's political clout lays on fallow ground, this is another spike in the coffin of Ms Warren's aspirations to take the rear seat where Mr. Kerry sat so long behind the "big fellow". Interesting side line was yesterday's anniversary of Ted's chappaquedic adventure that cost the life of a vital young lady. Also yesterday, I repeated a comment made about Ms Warren that It has been said that she was only a "man and egger" professor in a small college until she started checking off her native American claim block. This got my comment removed by the Globe. That, "folks", is how sensitive an issue taking credit for success is. Mr. Kerry's success in the hostage release is based on Mr. Browns early initiative and Ms Warren's success was based on her claim to being a native American - both objectionable and false, unfair and unethical.
sorry--- correction...."HAM AND EGGER".

****I wish I cared enough to write a more complete response. I just do not. ***********************
If Kerry was up for election this year, his campaign would have had a press conference telling us what he was doing.
Please show me where Senator Brown took credit.
Everyone is still laughing about Gov Patrick standing with Sen.Kerry and putting their spin on this scenario: pathetic behavior which speaks volumes about their lack of character, considering the details.
The cynical side of me thinks that it was Brown's involvement that got Kerry's team to step up to the plate. Scott Brown is far more in touch with the common man than Kerry. Kerry's too busy trying to become the next Secretary of State.

No question in my mind that Senator Kerry did the grunt work and Brown stepped inside to claim the credit. Forget the scattershot attempts of the past: kings and queens, prime ministers, Hillary Clinton. Also forget the premature attempts to be "first" to look good: http://www.boston.com/news/politics/articles/2011/05/05/senator_scott_brown_duped_by_bin_laden_photo/ 41st vote vs. health care without ever reading the bill and his muddled National Guard record: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/01/07/guard_service_a_key_to_candidate_brown/ Scott Brown will win some and lose some, but he will not change. He is a Republican, he votes for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class, he is an opportunist, a panderer and a consummate politician. I also think that his staff, the worst in DC IMHO, is so busy walking him back on his delusional pronouncements, they would have no time to do the real work required in this matter, work Kerry has done for years: Note the date on the link: http://ohpblog.ohpinion.com/?m=20050413

Do you have ANY evidence that this is true (besides wanting to believe it): "Ms Warren's success was based on her claim to being a native American"? Otherwise it's just libel. Racist libel at that.
Wait, what is John Kerry running for?
Brown really is the true "live shot" of the Massachusetts Senators. It is amazing how often he has tried to inflate his role on various things.

Common sense tells us that Kerry got the job done. If you had a relative kidnapped in a foreign country and your democratic senator was the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee wired to the secretary of state who is also a democrat reporting to a democratic president, who would you call? Certainly not a recently delusional acting republican Senator Brown who is all style and no substance along with his erratic cohort "Rev" Rivers. Calling Brown would be like calling Ray Flynn to report a crime rather than calling the police! Funny thing, Flynn and Brown are quite similar.
What an ungrateful and deceitful pastor. Maybe his kidnappers know more about him them we do. So Brown gave the family his cell number to make it appear his was so concerned, did nearly nothing-and this pastor and his family knows it- and they give Brown the credit for all the diplomatic work Senator Kerry and his office did. What an unchristian thing to do. I can think of many reasons why it would be unsafe for Senator Kerry to hand out his personal cellnmber, and I would bet that Senator Kerry was to busy working to free this pastor, and do his work as a Senator, that he didn't have all the free time Brown does to pretend his is really important enought to have the connections Senator Kerry does. Brown and his office are sleezy operators. If Senator Brown is really a decent man, he will set the record straight. My guess is he will say nothing.
Let me put it to you this way, if I had a loved one kidnaped in a foreign country and needed help, I would contact the person who has years of foreign policy experience, is well known to have many overseas contacts, and is Chairman of the Senator Foreign Relations Committee. That would be Senator Kerry. No way on this God's earth would I even consider that a Senator with less than one term of experience, and no foreign policy work to call his own, would get the job done. He could express concern, but that is all. He would have to move aside and let the big guy take care of it. Handing out your cell phone number, and saying keep in touch does nothing to bring loved ones home.
