Sigh, Once again it looks like the very capable, wise, looks out for the little guy candidate is outshone by the bright, empty headed bling of Wenham.
I think you mean Wrentham.
Joan, shame. You have let Karl Rove’s version of the stories influence your thinking. Elizabeth’s work to get the Consumer Protection Agency in place speaks much more to her character than these shady attempts by Karl Rove and the Brown campaign to re-invent her past.
If you really want to be taken seriously as a Warren supporter you need to have to have to mention Karl Rove at least 3 times. Maybe throw in a Grover Norquist for good measure. But back to Liz, with the full might and regulatory power of the US Govt behind her there is no limit to her courage and ability to get things done!
If you really want to be taken seriously as a Brown supporter, you need to mention racial heritage at least 10 times. Maybe throw some war whoops, photoshopped pictures, and racist puns for good measure. But back to Brown, with the full might and corruptive power of Big Corporate Money and Ultragazillions in dark money behind him, there is no limit to what his truck and house full of women can't obstruct and water down.
I am not 100% certain, but did she not trade in her BMW 5 series for a Toyota Prius to prop up her green credentials? The Prius is popular among the liberal elite, actors and those with liberal leanings. She could have easily purchased a Chevy Volt and in doing so supported an American government owned entity while getting a bit closer to the political center. She is what she is.
We have a Prius. We have it because of fuel efficiency. The day I need to get a new car, trade in the kidmobile, maybe, the Volt is the top of my list of cars to buy. High 5. Reducing our collective consumption and addiction to dirty energy is something we all have to take responsibility for. Reducing your driving, taking public transportation, switching to reclaimed biodiesel for home heating, sealing up your home, turning down the thermostat... These are all part of the "all of the above" we need to get off the oil pipe. Stupid liberals.
Joan is as snarky as ever-suggesting Warren should "take the air out of his tires". Is there a more blatant cheerleader on the staff of the Boston Globe? She goes through the challenges that Warren faces in a pretty good way. But all she can say about Scott Brown is that he should lose. What an intellectual argument!!! Warren has revealed her character in claiming to be someone she is not. That alone should disqualify her. But the columnist here is happy to walk lock step in liberal tradition, which forgives all for committed liberals.
Ms. Vennochi you laid out what has been thrown against Elizabeth Warren and then present established facts that show these smears are false. Congratulations you did your homework. Although there are some in this state who don't do enough reading to distinguish fact from fiction many do and we should have some confidence in them. Idiology is what is trumping the present settled parties but confusion reigns among those who are trying to pick one from the other. So let's simply it. Both candidates meet the qualitfications for the Senate. The question for this state is do we want a Senate run by Republicans who legislate against the regular citizen, pick reactionary jurists, and thwart the President's program of trying to right the economy. Voters in Massachusetts are certainly capable of figuring this out. Their busy lives just interrupted the process until after Labor Day. They do not take a full year like political junkies to examine important issues. Over the next few weeks left to election day they will focus their attention on what makes sense to them as to which candidate advocates making life better for themselves, their family, and their fellow citizens. The second debate is Monday night, as many as possible should tune in.
Joan: You forgot to mention that Liz Warren stopped checking the Native American box as soon as she made it to the promised land of appointment to the Harvard faculty as a tenured professor. This illustrates that her box checking was not out of ethnic pride, but a tool to advance her career. The most glaring evidence of Liz Warren's fraud is that she never joined the Native American organization at Harvard, never attended any Native American programs at Harvard or elsewhere, and never donated any funds or times to help Native Americans. Given that Liz Warren was paid 350K a year to teach one course, and had staff support, she certainly had the funds and resources to do something to help Native Americans. If she had done anything for the Native American community, we would have heard about it. Her silence speaks volumes. Liz Warren got caught lying and still won't come clean. While many leftists want to brush aside her fraud as "not relevant", INTEGRITY DOES MATTER!!! This is one example of Liz Warren's lack of transparency. Scott Brown is a man of integrity who well serves this state. He deserves our vote.

Joan seems to think because HER personal history included having been advantaged by being a woman in a male-dominated field, this must translate to the racial politics of Harvard... since everybody knows that Harvard continues to hire every Native American it can, and obviously none of them are qualified otherwise.
Gimme a break. If every person involved in her career says this wasn't and isn't part of how she rose to prominence, and there is simply no evidence whatsoever--NONE--to dispute their accounts, it's Scott Brown and a willing punditry that are keeping this ugliness alive.
The sneering, shocking and racist displays we've seen from Brown supporters--his staffers on video only the latest in a months-long string of horrifying racial taunts by supporters, coyly egged on by Scotto (always careful (til now) to maintain plausible deniability)--is deeply hurtful.
We should be better than this. Shame on Brown and the enabling pundits who are proving that, apparently, we are not.
What happen is that Elizabeth Warren got caught lying to get affirmative action in her jobs. And if Scott Brown did that it would be screaming headlines for months.
Actually, BTD, that's not "what happened." She "got caught" doing no such thing. she got caught being an "apparently" white person (as you can see) who has CHerokee heritage. She "got caught" answering a question when asked, as all of us do. I hope you have evidence that you are all of the things you claim to be, heritage-wise. Because the rest of us don't. We believe our families and our stories. It is who we are. It's not a court of law, and if this is a legal issue, I challenge Scott Brown to agitate, in his important capacity of US Senator with the ear of Kings and Queens, for a legal inquiry.
Just raising a stink without putting his considerable senatorial influence behind it just looks like exploitation and posturing.
He should send Charles Fried a summons.
Brown IS a Republican and supports the Repub ticket. If he won the Senate, we would have a Repub majority. This is dangerous for Medicaire and Soc Security.Supreme Court, middle class tax increases, even lower taxes for the rich, etc, etc.
Warren is a strong supporter of OBAMA.Brown is not.
yea - a Vote for Warren is a Vote for Harry Reid and no budgets!
What are you watching...Chris Mattrews.... The present medicare and social security WILL NOT BE TOUCH and starting at age 55yrs you can have a choice. Social security and medicare are going broke thanks to LBJ putting funds collected into the general fund instead of using collections to fund only those taxes deducted for social security & medicare. At least if there is a GOP majority maybe the senate will get a budget which has not been done under Harry Reid' leadership. And bills like Obamacare WILL be read before signed into law.
Seems to me Warren had the skill and opportunity to make a living in higher profile, more controversial cases that were lucrative. Brown was a small town lawyer representing banks in real estate transactions. Do we vilify the defense attorney who makes a case for the murderer? Why is either anything to question?
her law license, Joan?

C'mon Harvey, if you had nothing else to go on you'd oppose Warren solely on her choice of a red jacket, the same way the most partisan Democrats are going after the barn jacket and the pickup truck.
Elizabeth Warren and husband are the 1% Pres. Obama talks about...they make almost $700 thousand dollars from Harvard and you wonder why college costs are so high. All Scott Brown has to do is show the videos of her screaming you didn't build that business by yourself others did and her backing the occupiers are her true colors and what she will do....take away from the hard working small business person and waste the money on the Solyndra's that Pres. Obama promotes.
Of course the unfunded prescrition plan and two unfunded wars your boy Bush doesn't mean anything, nor the fact that every GOP since and inclusing Truman increased the deficit and every Dem administation reduced it. But hey, its the thought that counts, right?
every?
Regarding the Traveller's case, even the judge was "disgusted". 'Nough said.
Joan, most voters have moved on. Polls have showed from the beginning that most voters have looked at the "native american" issue and decided it's not particularly important. The only people that won't let go of it are the increasingly desperate Brown campaign and the media. The latest polls show that Warren continues to lead Brown which should send him a message that the mud slinging is not working.

Professotr warren has been very deceptive about her employment. She has said she did not fill out an employment applicaiton. But you can bet at thetime of her hire, she filled out an employment form tha tincluded a EEO disclosure form, which containing this criterai for an American Indian: "American Indian or Alaska Native (A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North or South America,
including Central America, and who maintains tribal affiliations or community attachment.) No matter what she may belive about her lineage, she clearly does not meet this criteria.
So what did she put on the Harvard EEO form? SIMPLE QUESTON.
