President Obama and former Governor Mitt Romney will meet for the third and final presidential debate Monday night to discuss foreign policy. It is a broad topic that was sidelined in the first debate on domestic issues and engendered only one question at the candidate’s subsequent tete-a-tete, a town-hall meeting.
At last, we will hear the candidates’ uninterrupted views on America’s security. The debate’s topics have already been disclosed by moderator Bob Schieffer. They include the usual cast of ominous characters: the long war in Afghanistan, the red lines of Iran and Israel, the rising power of China, and the changing Middle East. Another query, on “America’s role in the world,” could be a softball or a snoozer, but might also be quite revealing.

Sorry, Juliette, but the foreign policy debate is completely relevant. The major subject will be Libya, which you CAREFULLY AVOID mentioning in your column. It's going to show that Barack Obama and the Democrats, after BRAGGING how "Experienced" he was at the Democratic convention, is actually the worst Commander in Chief ever. Along with the most DISHONEST Commander in Chief ever.

Nooooo! Not if you are Obama, you simply go on David Letterman and shrug off foreign policy as, "A few bumps in the road."
Another irony is that presidents have far more control over foreign policy than the economy, yet we elect presidents based almost solely on the economy.
Foreign policy might have been irrelevant... until Obama was caught in his Benghaz-gate lies. Only half of the media is covering the cover-up (CNN and FoxNews). If the media refuses to act as watchdog on such basic dangerous lies, then a foreign policy debate is absolutely necessary: it is the only time you are going to hear Obama called-out for three years of AQ terrorist attacks that the President has very carefully called 'anything else' in the media and been allowed to get away with it for too long. Obama keeps telling us AQ is dead, yet they just killed an ambassador!!!! I'm tired of the lies from Obama and I'm tired of the press PARTICIPATING in those lies against me!!!!

Many voters supported Obama based upon his promise for an immigration policy: But, Obama's policy is nepotism for his relatives: Illegal immigrant, Zeituni Polly Onyango (also known as “Aunt Zeituni”) President Barack Obama’s Aunt, & the uncle of President Obama. He was arrested in MA on drunken driving and other charges and has been a fugitive from deportation since 1992.
Obama's foreign policy consists of, 'bumps in the road," and lies to the American people. However, he did whisper to Putnin that he will discuss his foreign policy plans - 'after the election'. Hopefully, Obama's conversation will be from his Chicago home.
"HHK" Actually I think the US is the more likely "natural" place for facism. We have a population that tends towards this what I view as a "facist religious" viewpoint as anyone else in the world. I mean look how xenophobic this country acts most of the time. Look at its "we're exceptional" vision of itself. Whether it is Obama or Romney or any Republican or Democrat the tendency to impose America's will and values on others is the fulcrum upon which foreign policy is based. We can't even treat a President who looks different in a respectful manner. Many years ago I wrote my thesis on the demise of the American Empire and so far I've got to admit. I've been pretty close. Although I really didn't see a drift towards "facism". I am now beginning to think it is more of a likely outcome. But on a happier note the increasing demographic diversity may push the white male out of power over time and avoid this classical historical trap. To me this changing of the guard will be the most dangerous time.

Amazing you don't think there is a streak of ultra-Nationalism in this counrty. And as far as economic dislocation I don't hink we've seen anything yet. I would also point out that it was the complicity of German corporations that led to the ultimate support of German fascism. However, for me the important thing is that it does not require a "single" leader for facism to exist. It can be a culturally accepted way of an economy working. I would also point out that we use an anti-Islamic ideology to support certain actions. I am not speaking to incidents in which we conflict with Islam I am speaking to a growing "general" bias against people of that persuasion. As far as enemies go I am 65 and have never known a time when this country wasn't at war with someone. Scapegoats? We've got a world full of them. Up next pick-em.
As far as American dullards are concerned the number is so great anything is possible.
