Liberals are often uncomfortable casting public policy challenges as “wars on (fill in the blank).” The combative language is too harsh to explain, say, the supply-and-demand dependency of the drug trade. It is too militaristic to describe the deeply personal aspects of cancer treatment and research. But it might be entirely accurate — and now even more appropriate — to call the fight against climate change a war.
