Latino voters need more than a sombrero on an elephant
Almost immediately after President Obama’s decisive reelection, Republicans of many stripes coalesced around the idea that they had lost because of the party’s hostility toward Latinos. And to some in the GOP, there was a quick and obvious solution: to “put a sombrero on the Republican elephant,” as one skeptical Latino GOP operative characterized it to Politico. The job really isn’t all that difficult, many conservatives insisted. But they’re wrong.
