The year in numbers

The never-ending negotiations about the pending fiscal cliff sometimes amount to nothing more than a dizzying array of numbers. Who can count that high? The negotiations also make us think that the only stastistics that mattered in 2012, or will matter in 2013, involve dollar signs. A year in pictures may be compelling and beautiful, but the year in numbers gives a strong hint of what to anticipate in the year ahead.

300,000 - - The number of unwanted babies born in dysfunctional relationships who will fill the ranks of the homeless, the overflowing prisons, and the welfare rolls. All thanks to the pseudo-Christians in this country who forcefully reject any kind of rational birth control, family planning, or, paradoxically, any sort of systematic support for the poor souls they take no responsibility for. The pro-mass poor Republicans will have no disingenuous moments of silence nor say any prayers for these children, which is simply disgusting. "Civilized" America, indeed.

Yeah. Well, I've gotta go with Renaldo on this one. Sorry, Syst.
