Make colleges more accessible

Yes, the cost of college is rising. And much has been said recently about the value of a college education. But I firmly believe that there is no better investment. The reality is that your life won’t be the same if you don’t go to college.

Findings from a recent analysis of census data conducted by the Pew Economic Mobility Project show that the tough economy affected those with and without college degrees. But it also confirmed that the negative effects were less detrimental for college graduates than for those with only an associate’s or high school degree.

"Some may argue that cost of higher education is the problem and that students can’t handle the loan debt. But those are generalizations. While the default rates at for-profit colleges and among those who don’t finish college may be higher, the default rates for college graduates are relatively low." But, sir, at what price are students paying back their debt? How many defer or give up the dream of a graduate degree because of this debt? I went to a private boarding college - as did several of my siblings - in a day when it was possible to afford doing that. Now, my parents would never have been able to send us to places like Boston College, Emmanuel, Cornell and Fordham for their undergraduate education. Why don't you address the issue of "private school for those who have it, public education for those who don't". It is outrageous that most good private colleges and universities cost, on average, close to $50,000 per year. So, the parents and the students are supposed to foot this kind of bill? And what if there are 3 children in the family? $600,000 for all three in a private school of their choice? Or, are they supposed to go to public school and let the more affluent attend private schools?

what nonsense from a overpaid college pres. debt is a huge crisis such asthe housing bubble was. colleges are greedy and out of reach. that's a fact not a so called generalization. defaults are low because they  system so they can never be defaulted on. how convenient!
