With no public records law to fall back on, campus newspapers and the public are powerless to access detailed information about crimes at private universities and colleges. It’s time for the Legislature to extend public records laws to the campus police, and shine some light on the dark corners of college campuses. Parents, students, and those choosing whether to attend a college or university deserve nothing less.
