Globe endorsement

For vision and national unity, Huntsman for GOP nominee

Jon Huntsman would be a better president than Mitt Romney, writes the Globe’s editorial board. But if he fails in his quest, he could still make Romney a better candidate.

are you serious?????????????? so weak

Since it's a no-brainer who the Globe will endorse in the general election, is this just a ploy by the notoriously liberal editorial board to endorse a weaker GOP candidate in hopes of deflecting support from Romney, and improving the chances of Obama's re-election? C'mon, Huntsman doesn't have a realistic chance at capturing the White House, does he?

This year's presidential election features an incumbent who practices tactical politics like Herbert Hoover, instead of FDR, and a Republican clown show. Mitt Romney exudes the sincere authenticity of a used car salesman, but does not come across like a dumb ace. Rick Perry/Michele Bachmann – pick one; Newt Gingrich – Washingtion insider or bomb-thrower?; a crusty codger – eccentric libertarian, pick one: Ron Paul. Hunstman? Hu? http://napoleonlive.info/politics/mitt-romney-bain-capital-2012-election/

Interesting editorial. Romney is nothing but a self promoting, mercurial opportunist. I really dislike the tone of his Obama put downs, characterizing him as some clueless bafoon. Far from it, but I enjoyed how this pointed out the hyperbole Romney 's team employs. Frankly, I'm so over the culture wars and both Romney and Huntsman represent more of that, which. I find repulsive. I endorse Barack Obama!

oh well. as the blithering nitwit former bagman turned mayor would day, DIVIDE AND CONCORD(as in the town, not the jelly). ma

The Globe enndorsing Huntsman has about as much credibility as a Vegan endorsing the Outback Steakhouse.

This is well thought out and reasonable! Watch how the crazies that post here will pound the "Glob" and say this is really some back-door way to pump up the current prez in some way! The one thing in this editorial that is stoopid is the idea that Obama has had anything to do with the lack of bipartisan work on capital hill. They hated him from day one and remain willing to screw up the country to fit their narrow ideological ideals!

Globe endorses Huntsman, figures. The rest of America is saying, Who's Huntsman!!!!

Huntsman would make a fine president, but the Globe's endorsement rings very hollow. They have zero interest in seeing any Republican ever become president, and seem to use this piece as a way to nitpick Romney. Some day, probably never, it would be nice to see the Globe put its high horse intellect to work discussing all the ways Obama has been a complete failure. But do not hold your breath-they endorsed him in 2008, and are all about ideology, regardless of the results.

That counts for a lot, and is the core of Romney's credibility. His foreign policy ideas, however, show none of the same wisdom. Backed by a team including many Bush-era hawks and neoconservatives, Romney offers bellicose language about Iran, forceful denunciations of Chinese currency manipulation, and unyielding - and entirely uncritical - support for Israel. At a time when most of Washington is inching toward bipartisan trims in defense spending, Romney is proposing an improbably ambitious expansion of the Navy. ---------------------------------- The appeasing of China and Iran by Barack Obama, President of America-in-Decline, has fostered US interests how exactly? As far as Israel is concerned, only the fringe left, the Globe and Barack Obama, believe Obama has been productive vis a vis the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Everyone else thinks he was, and is, a nightmare. Of course, a former member of the Obama administration, John Huntsman, will chart a different course. Yeah right.

A full-page editorial endorsing a candidate whom the Globe will never endorse for actual election -- or appointment -- to any position in any government anywhere. Wow -- how much do you guys hate Mitt Romney? The transparency of this gambit and the overselling of your meager bill of goods defeats the purpose here, but still, I do look forward to your endorsement of Jack E. Robinson in the upcoming Republican Senate primary to face St. Elizabeth.

Richmond, since you are such an expert on President Obama's failings, and since the Globe is not acceeded to your demands, perhaps you could enlighten me on the topic. I have my own opinions about his strengths and weaknesses, but since you make so many allusions, I would appreciate an elucidation for once.

What's Huntsman's view of Unconstitutional 'Recess' appointments? I'm sure he'll become outraged (Wink wink nudge nudge).

Well, this is the official end of Huntsman's campaign. The Globe endorsed Huntsman because he is the most non republican republican running. It's like Miss Piggy choosing Porky Pig as Man of the Year.

statist, try re-reading the Constitution, especially Article II, Secton 2. Bush 43 made 171 such recess appointments, Clinton 139. For historical reference, even George Washington made a recess appointment (John Rutledge as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court). If anything you should direct your outrage at Senator Reid for calling pro forma sessions just to avoid the expiration of the current crop (28) of recess appointments. He also used pro forma sessions to thwart some of Bush's efforts at recess appointments. He must be facing quite a dilemma right now, regarding Cordray.

Richmond, I'd like to qualify my challenge to you. Unlike certain trolls who shall go unnamed, when you do make elucidations of your positions, rather than just making groundless, partisan assertions, they tend to be well thought-out and worthy of discussion. I am giving you the opportunity to prove your claims.

If you look at Huntsman's record he is more 'consistently conservative' than Romney, Santorum or Gingrich. If anything, he is more conservative than I would like to see in a leader, but more importantly, he is highly competent and skilled.

It's been fascinating watching the "big tent" Republicans struggle for a leader among two relatively White House qualified Mormons and six other morons.

Unfortunately, Huntsman is too moderate to win the republican primary fight. He should run as an Independent in the general election. He'd probably win!

If Huntsman's moderation is such an attractive quality to the Globe, why are they so enamored with the extremist President. Insofar as the recess appointments, I am curious as to Huntsman's view. My view is the Constitution does not empower any President to determine whether the Senate is in session or not. Separation of Powers? What does that mean to Obama's Tim Cahill: John Huntsman?

Playing the part of John Anderson, 1980: Mr. John Huntsman. America's newest historical footnote.

Good op-ed, Globe

Gee, I just kind of assumed the Globe is doing Mitt Romney a favor. Endorsing him wouldn't have helped him with NH Republicans next week.

I join you in endorsing POTUS Obama for re-election. I encourage all rational thinking people to support POTUS Obama now and at te time of his re-election.
