Romney shifts positions on Afghan war

Last summer, Romney set out to distinguish himself from President Obama by criticizing his expansion of the increasingly unpopular war. He paid dearly for those comments, which flew in the face of the conservative notion of an all-powerful American army and a foreign policy built on military strength. Now Romney attacks Obama - not for ramping up the war - but for attempting peace talks with the Taliban. “We go anywhere they are, and we kill them,’’ he said Monday.
