Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas skipped the team’s Stanley Cup celebration at the White House in protest on Monday, claiming that “the federal government has grown out of control.’’ The ceremony was a non-political event, meant to honor the Bruins and their fans. Instead, Thomas made it about himself. Like everyone else, Thomas is entitled to his political beliefs. But nobody was asking the goaltender to endorse Obama’s policies. He should have had the class to show up.
