Hockey dads: Game misconduct

The unnamed dad who shined a laser pointer on the ice at a girls hockey playoff game is an embarrassment to high school sports and the team he was trying to help.

This pathetic episode of sports parents gone wild occurred last week when, fans, coaches, and players noticed a green light bouncing around Larsen Rink in Winthrop. Officials halted play between the Winthrop and Medway-Ashland teams. A man who was not named but identified as the father of a Winthrop High School hockey player was pointing the laser at Medway-Ashland players in an apparent attempt to distract them. Officials kicked him out of the rink, he has been banned from all school events, and he will be charged with disturbing the peace.
